# Company-to-contact by role

> Input requirements, output limits, and result fields for prebuilt/company-to-contact.

Canonical identifier: `prebuilt/company-to-contact`.

The Play searches providers in the configured sequence.
It collects usable contacts until it reaches its contact threshold or finishes the sequence. It
is not a first-email-result waterfall.

## Input

| Field | Type | Schema required | Contract |
| - | - | - | - |
| `roles` | `string[]` | Yes | Target role or title terms. |
| `company_name` | `string` | No | Company-name context. |
| `domain` | `string` | No | Company domain. |
| `linkedin_company_url` | `string` | No | LinkedIn company identifier. |
| `seniority` | `string[]` or `string` | No | Seniority intent for provider matching. |
| `limit` | `number` | No | Output defaults to 3. The Play rounds positive values down and limits them to 1–10. Nonpositive values use the default. |

Although company fields are optional in the public JSON schema, a useful search
needs a company identifier. Supply a domain or LinkedIn company URL with the
role terms rather than expecting `roles` alone to identify a company.

Each provider search uses a separate candidate limit of at most 25.
The public scalar catalog does not accept `search_limit` as an input. It does not increase the
public output cap of 10.

```bash theme={"languages":{"custom":["/languages/deepline-prompt.json"]}}
deepline describe prebuilt/company-to-contact --json
deepline plays run prebuilt/company-to-contact \
  --input '{"domain":"acme.com","roles":["VP Marketing","Director of Marketing"],"seniority":["VP","Director"],"limit":3}' --watch
```

## Output

The contract includes `contacts`, `contact_found`, `miss_reason`,
`source_attempts`, `rejected_candidates`, and the
`company_to_contact_by_role_waterfall` compatibility field. Contact records can
include name, title, email, LinkedIn URL, source, match evidence, confidence,
and `needs_review`. An email is not guaranteed for every returned contact.

`source_attempts` records the source's candidate, usable, and rejected counts.
Provider order, availability, and prices for executed steps can change.
Read the current Play contract before you use a source list or price.
